Crown of Contrasts

This powerful composition reinterprets the symbolism of traditional Christian thought. The dramatic structure of thorny Acacia branches, bound together with natural fibers, surrounds a delicate bouquet of white and blush roses. The sharp thorns recall the crown of Christ, while the white rose symbolizes purity and the Virgin Mary. Delicately woven grasses soften the intensity and add movement. A design that uses botanical elements for their form, but also for the deep emotional and cultural story they convey.

Pampas grass jacket

The base of this natural vase is
a number of Paperweb bouquet holders
that have been crafted into a vase shape with
an Oasis Lady placed centrally.
The shape is covered with plastic foil,
then pasted with pampas grass and
attached to an iron stand that
has been pre-covered with banana leaf.
White Cymbidium orchids and carnations
are inserted into the floral foam
– the flowers are, as it were,
cherished by the grass.
The whole is finished with cotton fluff
(Gossypium), white Limonium
and Acacia twigs – which creates a
playful counter-movement.

Stimulating

The flat disc-shaped frame is made of young shoots from the acacia tree – these are full of vicious thorns. The new Helleborus ‘Bella Belles’ and Scabiosa ‘Bon Bon Scoop French Vanilla’ are tied through it. The whole is casually placed in an elegant, spacious red vase. The slanted placement gives the whole more tension.
