Green Industry Trends 2026: How the zeitgeist influences consumer behavior

The world is changing rapidly and becoming increasingly complex. This brings uncertainty, causing consumers to look for something to hold on to. In the Groenbranche Trends 2026, developed by Flower Council Holland, iBulb, INretail, Tuinbranche Nederland and Bureau Nijman + Van Haaster, we see how this zeitgeist translates into four consumer trends that affect the floriculture sector.
Unexpected Encounter: A surreal twist in flowers and plants

The world around us is increasingly dynamic and unpredictable. This translates into the trend Unexpected Encounter, in which contrast, alienation and experimentation play the leading role. In this style trend, we see daring combinations that evoke tension and wonder.
Orbit Revive: Retrofuturism in flowers and plants

Technological progress and nostalgia come together in the trend Orbit Revive. As we prepare for a future with AI and space travel, we also hark back to iconic designs from the 60s, 70s and 80s. The result is a style in which vintage and futurism reinforce each other.
Intriguing Decor: The Power of Warmth and Color in Ornamental Horticulture

As the world seems to become increasingly harsh and distant, there is a growing need for warmth, softness and connection. Intriguing Decor responds to this need by creating a style that focuses on colorful, homey and inviting.
Nostalgic Lens: Back to craft and romance

At a time when technology and globalization dominate our lives, there is a growing need for nostalgia and craft. Nostalgic Lens harkens back to traditional aesthetics and brings a fresh, romantic interpretation of rural domesticity.
Green Industry Trends 2026

Flower Council Holland has developed the Groenbranche Trends 2026 in collaboration with Tuinbranche Nederland, iBulb, INretail and Bureau Nijman + Van Haaster. These trends respond to the current zeitgeist, in which uncertainty and technological developments, such as artificial intelligence, play an increasing role. During a knowledge session on March 18 at the World Horti Center, the trends were presented to more than 150 interested parties.
