'Go for your feelings, make a translation'

Florist Sjacco Gerritsen gets excited about summer. 'The summer theme is great! When winter is over and spring begins everything springs out and colors come alive; that makes you happy.

'Summer is a busy, vibrant time for nature when everything is at its most powerful. Bright, saturated colors warm and vibrant. The theme of summer has much to offer, it is the time of outdoor living, sociability and leisure.'

'I get my inspiration mostly from nature, there are so many beautiful shapes, colors and smells. Let nature influence you. Look around you and you see beautiful fields of sprouting green grass, among which you can discover more and more blooming flowers. That's happiness, isn't it?

'In my arrangements I use only seasonal flowers. I don't have a specific preference but with wild flowers, grasses and flared branches you make me very happy. Trends? Just do what makes you happy whether it's a trend or not. What I often do is mix everything together in all colors or just that one branch or flower. Go for your feelings and make a translation'. 

Layered contrast

'Bowty twig' twigs were used to create a base in an ascending form. The flowers inserted between the twigs add their own accent: the graceful grassy character of Chasmanthium and the refined elegance of Triteleia create a captivating contrast and layering. The pink Freesia lifts the cool tones and adds a warm touch to the whole.

Character Heart

A durable BIO Oasis heart shape is divided into two contrasting halves, giving it a striking and modern look. One side is made up with robust driftwood, creating a natural look. The other heart half is richly filled with Rosa 'La Paloma'. Delicate orchids break the clean lines and create a playful effect. A powerful and elegant arrangement, suitable for a variety of occasions.

Shell Wreath

A BIO wreath from Oasis forms the sustainable base. On this is a straw wreath completely covered with shells, carefully stacked for a playful and natural effect. Shells (on sticks) are also incorporated between the flowers. The addition of rose-red Rosa 'Star Trek', Achillea, Eustoma, Gerbera and Freesia makes this arrangement a harmonious whole. 

Contemporary botanical

This striking object is constructed on a sturdy hardwood base, providing a stable and stylish base. On top, iron pins, tightly wrapped with gold-colored winding wire, form a powerful interplay of lines with a luxurious feel. Attached to the wrapping wire are dried Buddha nuts, into which small flowering cacti are glued. A modern and botanical object that completely comes into its own in a contemporary interior. 

Sunny summer

About fifteen leaves were formed from pokes. These were then wrapped with Oasis paper wire. From the loose leaves, a frame was formed by attaching them together with tonkin canes. This creates a playful, yet sturdy base for the bouquet. The flowers exude summer. The delicate, blue-purple hues of the Delphinium combine beautifully with the yellow spherical Craspedia flowers. The bright green snowball lifts the whole in color beautifully. Together they create a cheerful and vibrant display that is perfect for the bright, sunny days of summer.
