Japanese floral designer Noriko Shimura has won the Florist of France Challenge 2026, part of the Flower Art Award at Tokyo Midtown. The theme of the competition was metamorphosis. Within a limited time, the participants created both a large-scale installation and a structured bouquet.
Shimura interpreted the theme in “The Irreversible Beauty.” The design depicts the changes that occur between life and death: what returns to the earth, sprouts anew, or takes on a different form under the influence of time and the environment. An asymmetrical structure brings together achromatic and vivid colors, revealing the tension between creation and decay.
The jury praised the powerful flow of the lines and the technical execution of the large-scale work. In the floral arrangement, the balance and harmony between the flowers and the structure were particularly striking. With her victory, Shimura has been selected as Japan’s representative for the 2027 Concours Piverdie in France.
