IPM program focuses on floristic trends

From January 27 to 30, IPM ESSEN 2026 will present an extensive program in Hall 5 with the IPM Flower Stage, BLOOM's Trend Show 2026, and the IPM Discovery Center. International florists will give live demonstrations, while trend experts will showcase five style directions for the coming season. The Discovery Center will offer guided tours of various store concepts for garden centers.

BLOOM's Trend Show presents five style directions
BLOOM's Trend Show 2026 presents five key trends that, according to the organization, will define the floristry sector in the coming year.

Gentle & Mindful combines a soft, purist aesthetic with a detox mentality, featuring subtle colors and accents in lime, coral, and peach.

According to the organization, 'Terra & Comfort' interprets earthly elements in a warm, timeless classic style, enriched with color accents in papaya, orchid pink, and pistachio.

Greenish & Divers introduces an urban, green style mix that oscillates between 1970s influences and a sustainable natural look.

The "Pure & Elemental" trend makes a clear design statement with archaic shapes, raw materials, and gray-blue nuances.

Refreshed & Positive brings back optimistic lightness with playful elements and summery shades.

International florists at IPM Flower Stage
The IPM Flower Stage program includes demonstrations by international florists and industry specialists. Ekaflor will host four sessions, including presentations by Daniela Kirmse on social media (January 27, 10:00-10:45 a.m.) and Stephanie and Max Zebovec on retail strategies (January 28, 11:00-11:45 a.m.).

The Fachverband Deutscher Floristen (FDF) brings international expertise to Hall 5. Brenna Quan and Sue Tabbay-Yamaguchi from Hawaii present "The Spirit of Aloha" on January 27 and 28. Yulia Medvedeva from Estonia, Stefan Van Berlo from Belgium, and Joseph Massie from England demonstrate event floristry techniques in "Floristry International – Pure Perfection Passion."

The new initiative 'She blooms' kicks off with the 'Flower Riot' show by Hanneke Frankema (Netherlands), Sara-Lisa Ludvigsson (Sweden), and Elisabeth Schoenemann (Germany) on January 27 and 28. The program will conclude with the presentation of the IPM Trade Fair Cup 2026 on Friday, January 30, at 12:30 p.m.

IPM Discovery Center showcases store concepts
The IPM Discovery Center, supported by Kahler, presents point-of-sale concepts for garden centers, specialized green retailers, and food retailers. Curator Romeo Sommers leads guided tours through various themed worlds several times a day.

The tours cover 'Feminine Marketing' for female-friendly product presentation, 'Nostalgic Marketing' with modern interior design ideas in nostalgic settings, and 'Climate Park' about the power of plants for the climate and environment. In addition, 'Health & Wellbeing' for health-supporting plants and 'Community Learning' for the garden center as a meeting place are presented.

The Discovery Center is supported by exhibitors such as A/S Queen Knud Jepsen, Addenda, Magical Hydrangea, Air So Pure, and Kahler GmbH. The collaboration with the European Floral and Lifestyle Suppliers Association (EFSA) will continue.

IPM ESSEN 2026 will take place from January 27 to 30 at Messe Essen. The trade fair will be open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and on Friday until 4:00 p.m. The complete program will be continuously updated at www.ipm-essen.de/world-trade-fair/programme/fdf-world/.
