Fleurop acquires WY Florists

Fleurop acquires WY Bloemisten, strengthening its position in the flower delivery market. Both organizations will continue to operate independently, retaining their own identity, network and working methods. Together, Fleurop and WY will soon represent some 1,300 affiliated florists - the largest network of local florists in the Netherlands.

According to Fleurop CEO Anita de Hart, the acquisition offers opportunities to pool knowledge and innovate together. The increase in scale should make both organizations more future-proof in a market that is changing rapidly. She also emphasizes that the collaboration will continue to promote the craftsmanship of local florists within both consumer and business bouquets.

For WY founders Wim Meuleman and Yvonne Sierhuis, the acquisition comes at a logical time. After years of growth, a need arose for specialist knowledge in sustainability, IT and marketing. That expertise is available at Fleurop, while at the same time retaining WY's recognizable way of working. Both Meuleman and Sierhuis will remain with WY through 2026.

Fleurop sees the acquisition as part of a broader growth strategy aimed at strengthening e-commerce, expanding services and giving florists more choices in partnering with the brand. The acquisition will be formally completed by Jan. 1.
