From January 12 to 14, trade fair Trendz took place in Gorinchem. This was also the kickoff of the inspiration and purchasing season for spring, the first trend fair of the year.
Under the title Bloemkracht 5 - strong together for the florist, five leading organizations (VBW, Smithers-Oasis / Floralife, Plantion, Jodeco, Groothandelscentrum Plantion) united with their stands around the stage where they presented a daily varied program of inspiring demonstrations and presentations. It immediately became the place for networking and meeting colleagues.
The theme of sustainability was highlighted from different angles. Greenhouse Sustainability explained FlorIT, a tool to easily visualize the CO2 footprint of the flower business. Karolien Tesselaar explained how they, as a grower, approach the cultivation of Alstroemeria as sustainably as possible, a great story to tell your customer as a florist. Loes van Griethuysen did a demonstration with sustainable FSC-certified packaging and floral designers Esther Weijenberg, Ilona Oostenveld and Bente van Meurs inspired with sustainable and commercial creations. The program also included fascinating presentations on insight into the profitability of a flower store, the benefits of a smart cash register "Working smarter thanks to AI" and "Employee of the future.
Trendz' three trends - Joy, Cosy and Dreamy - were developed in collaboration with Top Interior Designers.
Joy: Funny, gold, glass, graphic
A cheerful combination of retro styles and graphic expressions. Sentiment and reassessment of design from past periods but shaped differently in new materials. The shapes are geometric and basic, the color combinations surprising, much use of primary colors and black and white and outlines.
Cosy: Retro, handicraft, round shapes, terra colors.
Use of natural materials such as wicker, ceramics, the shapes are subtle, rounded and soft. And the color scheme gives soft neutrals, terra, ochre and black and white and occasional bright accents.
Dreamy: Fairytale, sea, silver, metal
The presentations are fairy tale and dreamy. There is also a lot of recycling of waste to develop new products. The shapes are whimsical, the colors soft pastels, lilac, blue, purple, pink and red.
The Pantone main color Mocha Mousse also plays a pertinent role at the Trendz fair. The brown hue predominates and brings the tranquility of a coffee and chocolate break. Despite industry challenges, the spring edition welcomed nearly 6,000 visitors. The fall edition is from Sun Aug. 24 to Di Aug. 26.
