Online florist bloomon has published its 2025 sustainability report. The company aims to create surprising bouquets that have as little impact on the planet as possible. As a B Corp-certified company, bloomon is committed to transparency about its sustainability efforts.
Currently, 82 percent of stems are FSI certified, which means that growers comply with good environmental and social standards. By expanding sea transport to replace air freight, CO2 emissions from certain flowers are significantly reduced.
"Last year, we made great strides in sea freight from Colombia and Kenya. This allows us to reduce the CO2 emissions of stems that come from far away by up to 90 percent," says Sibbe Krol, head of sustainability at bloomon. According to him, this is often even lower than the emissions of flowers from Europe.
The company works with a short supply chain and packages flowers in fully recyclable paper. The fulfillment center runs on green energy. Bloomon works with Fairtrade-certified growers in Kenya, paying premiums that contribute to education and healthcare projects.
