Joyce Brueren and Gerrit van Aalst winners of the 2026 Dutch Floral Art Championships!

On March 9 and 10, eight floral stylists competed for the Dutch Floral Art title. At the same time, seven young people competed for the Dutch junior title. Joyce Brueren (professionals) and Gerrit van Aalst (young talents) were crowned the winners of this prestigious professional competition. Both champions will represent the Netherlands in 2027 at the European Championships for professionals and juniors in Spain.
Assignments

The finals took place at Plantion in Ede and were part of the Floréda green purchasing and inspiration days. Both juniors and professionals were given five challenging assignments. Three of these could be prepared (in part) at home, while the other two assignments were given to the participants on the spot, so-called 'surprise assignments'. The assignments ranged from a floral foam arrangement to a bouquet and from head/body decorations to a plant-based umbrella.

Wild joy

Both Joyce Brueren and Gerrit van Aalst were ecstatic with joy. "I'm a little shaken," were Joyce's first words after the win.

Thanks to their victory, Joyce and Gerrit will represent the Netherlands at the European Cup, which will take place in Spain in 2027. In the run-up to this competition, VBW will support both champions with the aim of achieving a good result.

The results of both matches can be viewed here.
