Honorable
Yves Berendse: "It is an enormous honor that the Dutch tulip growers are offering me their own tulip. I think it's a beautiful flower! And after a great 2024 in which 'Back in Time' was heard a lot on radio and all over the country, 2025 is also off to a great start. I am proud that my name will be immortalized in the official international tulip registry."
Out in full force
TPN president and tulip grower Arjan Smit: "Every year at the start of a new cutting tulip season, a special person is honored with his or her own tulip, and as growers of an archetypal Dutch flower, we carry the Dutch song with us. It is frequently heard in our greenhouses. We sometimes say that thanks to Dutch music not only our employees but also the tulips receive an extra dose of energy and cheerfulness. This year we as growers would like to honor the new generation of Dutch singers. And then we can't ignore Yves Berendse. Every time we hear his songs, everyone sings along at the top of their voices and the greenhouse is a party. So for us it's only natural to surprise him with a tulip of our own."
Features
Characteristic of Tulipa 'Yves Berendse,' as its botanical name reads, is its attractive red color and numerous petals. The double tulip has leaves that are nicely taut upwards. In full bloom, the flower is about 6 to 8 inches in diameter. 'Yves Berendse' originated from a cross between the pink tulip 'Christmas Marvel' and the double yellow-white tulip 'Monte Sweet'. This strong cut flower was bred by Holland Bolroy Markt from Heiloo (NH) and is particularly suitable for flower production on water.
