The current scheme has been in force since January 1, 2023. According to SMK, there have been new developments in the floriculture chain and among florists since then. The aim of the revision is to ensure that the requirements and optional measures remain up to date, while the scheme remains ambitious and feasibility is guaranteed.
Consultation and decision-making process
The Board of Experts will adopt the new scheme after a period of review and consultation. First, quality mark holders and stakeholders will be asked to provide input for the amendment of requirements. A Supervisory Committee will formulate an opinion on the proposals, which will lead to a draft scheme.
In the fall of 2026, there will be a public consultation round in which written and oral responses to the draft scheme can be submitted. A hearing will be part of this round. Based on all responses, the Board will adopt the final scheme, which is scheduled to take place in October 2026.
Timeline and implementation
Once finalized, the new scheme will be published. The new scheme is scheduled to take effect on January 1, 2027. Interested parties can submit points for review via the Sustainable Florist Barometer website until February 15, 2026.
