The jury praised the company’s approach to reducing its emissions and its use of raw materials and chemicals. According to the jury’s assessment, the nursery has identified the sources of its emissions, invested in practical solutions, and measured their impact. The jury described the accompanying plan as commercially viable.
Recognition for efforts
CEO Stefan van Vuuren views the award as recognition of the work done at the nursery. “This recognition affirms our efforts over the past few years and shows that we are on the right track.”
The FPC Fresh Awards are an initiative of the Fresh Produce Consortium, the British trade association for the fresh produce industry. Porta Nova grows Red Naomi roses and produces approximately 50 million of them annually.
