During the finals of Skills Heroes, on March 20 and 21 in RAI Amsterdam, Jikke Jansen was declared the best flower arranger in the Netherlands. The professional competition was organized by WorldSkills Netherlands.
Jansen (21), a third-year student in business manager/entrepreneur flower level 4 at Aeres MBO Velp, won the title of "Best Florist 2025. She already won a bronze medal in 2024. Thanks to guest lessons from experienced arrangers and the guidance of learning company Flora-Inn from Bathmen, she showed a clear growth in craftsmanship this year.
For the finals, Jansen designed, among other things, a dress made of more than 500 hand-folded hapkins, made of paper based on apple peels. This was covered with flowers on the spot and presented on stage by her sister-in-law, who served as a model. "I learned to experiment more with different materials," Jansen said.
Creative total concept
Within the Dress to Impress theme, Jansen also created a show bouquet, a hat, a shoe, a mirror and a plant arrangement from a surprise box. She stood out within a strong field of participants. Second place went to Thijmen Hommes (DC Terra), third to Carine Stel (Zone.college).
Jansen may (with reservations) represent the Netherlands September 9-13 at EuroSkills 2025 in Denmark.
