Klaver Flowers takes a further step in responsible entrepreneurship

Klaver Flowers will start 2025 as a fully FSI-compliant company. The nursery in Wondo Tika, Ethiopia, has not only renewed its MPS-ABC certification, but has also achieved the EHPEA Code of Practice Silver, which is benchmarked with Global GAP. These milestones highlight Klaver Flowers’ commitment to sustainable cultivation, environmental friendliness and good working conditions.
Because Klaver Flowers in Ethiopia and the Netherlands are separate legal entities, both locations must be certified individually. This ensures that both the Lilies in Heerhugowaard and the Gypsophila and Limonium in Ethiopia are grown according to the same high standards. "This step shows that we want to make a difference," says Danny Koppes, Operational Director of Klaver Flowers. "Responsible production is not only good for our customers, but also for our employees, the environment and the communities in which we work." With this certification, Klaver Flowers underlines its commitment to transparency and sustainability, adding value for both customers and its environment.

For more than 50 years, Klaver Flowers has been supplying flowers of exceptional quality, including premium lilies such as Lilium 'Calvados' from Heerhugowaard, the Netherlands, and summer flowers such as Limonium and Gypsophila from Hawassa, Ethiopia. Our passion for innovation and consistency in quality makes us a reliable partner for flower suppliers worldwide. With a year-round supply and strict quality control, we ensure that our customers can always count on the best.

Dutch Lily Days 2025: Innovations and challenges take center stage From 3 to 6 June 2025, the world of lilies will take center stage during the annual Dutch Lily Days. This event offers breeders, growers and traders the opportunity to meet and exchange knowledge about the latest trends and developments. The growing interest in double-flowered lilies will be one of the most important topics of discussion.

The Dutch Lily Days will experience their thirteenth edition in 2025. As in previous years, the event is a unique opportunity for professionals to discuss the innovations and challenges of the lily market with each other. It is the perfect moment to discover how far the sector has come in developing more sustainable and resistant varieties, what new varieties are available and what the market opportunities are for pollen-free and double-flowered lilies. Rise of double-flowered In particular, the attention for double-flowered lilies is expected to be high. The foreign market is responding very positively to the arrival of these almost peony-like species and the area is therefore increasing considerably. The rise of double-flowered varieties plays a role in almost all groups, such as the LA's, Orientals and OT's. Double-flowered lilies are a welcome addition to the wide range available on the market. Participants These 13 companies will open their doors during the Dutch Lily Days 2025: P. Aker, Boots Flowerbulbs, Van den Bos Flowerbulbs, Bot Flowerbulbs, De Jong Lelies Holland, Lily Company, Onings Holland Flowerbulbs, C. Steenvoorden, Gebr.
